Dalton and Sierra S. found this out in February 2024 when a late-night tornado hit their recently built Grand Blanc household. Literally out of nowhere, they were faced with extensive damage that made their home unlivable.
To make matters even worse, they had a baby on the way in just seven short months! What did Dalton and Sierra do? They made the call to Kroll Construction.
When we heard about the situation, we jumped right into action. Over the next few months, we took on almost every aspect of the couple’s rebuilding process. By the time their little one arrived, the job was done, and they were back in their newly restored home!
Dalton And Sierra’s Southeastern Michigan Emergency
Tornadoes are infamous for striking with little or no warning. They’re also known for leaving heavy damage in their wake.
When one hit Dalton and Sierra’s two-story home head-on, the toll included broken trusses and a partially missing roof. It also included damaged walls, windows, floors, siding, soffit, gutters, and so much more.
In its wrecked state, the building was uninhabitable. The couple needed someone who could undertake a large-scale restoration ASAP.
But they knew that speed wasn’t the only requirement. Their chosen provider must be capable of doing top-notch work on their tight rebuilding timeline.
Dalton and Sierra were not existing Kroll customers. However, they had previously talked with one of our sales reps. When they suddenly needed help, it made sense to reach out to us. And that’s exactly what they did.
Quite frankly, it was one of the biggest jobs we’d ever been asked to take on. But we knew we were up to it. So, we accepted their request and got right to work!
Preliminary Steps For The Remodeling Project
When we arrived on site, the first step was addressing the gaping hole in the side and roof of the building. As quickly as possible, we got tarps in place to provide a temporary weather barrier and temporary brace to prevent further damage.
Next, it was time to create a plan for providing Dalton and Sierra’s required remodeling services. Our goal was to tackle as much of the project as we could. That way, they wouldn’t have to deal with multiple contractors or any added layers of complexity.
As we were making our preparations, Sierra gave us the big news. She was in the early stages of pregnancy and wanted the work completed before her due date!
We were already planning for a smooth, efficient project. But Sierra’s news lit a fire under us.
So we made them a promise. Whatever it took, we’d restore their home in the allotted time while maintaining our strict quality standards.
Coming Through On Our Promised Remodeling Services
The next few months were filled with a continual blur of activity. Gradually, we restored sections of the damaged house like pieces in a giant jigsaw puzzle. As soon as work was done on one crucial system, it was on to the next.
We even tackled some side projects that were outside our typical wheelhouse. That included the rebuilding of a small privacy fence that was destroyed by the storm.
In the end, did we meet Dalton and Sierra’s pregnancy timeline? We certainly did. And with two weeks to spare!
However, when you work that fast, little mistakes can pop up here and there. Not long after the project was done, the couple let us know there were some minor workmanship issues. Needless to say, we were happy to correct those problems at no extra charge.
The whole experience definitely put us through our paces. But we were overjoyed to be able to help in such trying circumstances.
